This Registered Nurse position in a Magnet-designated Critical Access hospital's Emergency Department requires a minimum of three years of experience in a combined adult/pediatric setting. The RN will provide skilled nursing care to patients in a fast-paced environment, utilizing Cerner charting. The role involves managing a 1:4 patient ratio and working every other weekend.

Responsibilities:
- Providing direct patient care in a 22-bed Emergency Department with approximately 65 daily visits.
- Assessing and treating patients with various conditions, including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, psychiatric, and pediatric emergencies.
- Administering medications, including IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation, and emergency medications.
- Performing procedures such as starting IVs, managing central lines, and obtaining 12-lead EKGs.
- Interpreting dysrhythmias and managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction.
- Utilizing Cerner electronic health record system for documentation.
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Triaging patients and adhering to isolation precautions.
- May float to other areas within the scope of practice as needed.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum three years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a combined adult/pediatric Emergency Department setting.
- Current active Registered Nurse license in Illinois.
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
- Experience with Cerner electronic health record system.
- Community hospital experience.
- Skills in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, IV therapy, phlebotomy, medication administration, and managing various patient conditions (as detailed in the job description).
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- TNCC certification.
- Experience with burns, epiglottitis, head injuries, hyperglycemia, poison ingestion, sickle cell crisis, skin disorders, spinal cord injuries, traumatic amputations, gunshot wounds, CPAP/BiPAP, interpretation of ABGs, intubation, managing splints, and ortho-trauma.
Special Considerations:
- 3x12-hour night shifts (5:45 PM - 6:15 AM).
- Every other weekend rotation.
- May float within the scope of practice as needed.
- Schedule requests should be discussed with the manager.
- Guaranteed hours with a maximum of 36 hours of call-offs per 13-week assignment without pay.
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed). COVID-19 vaccine not required.
Scheduling:
- 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week (1745-0615).
- Every other weekend work requirement.
- Schedule flexibility will be discussed with the manager.
