Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description



Are you a creative newscast producer with outstanding news judgment, a sense of good production value and good time management skills? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing newsroom across both traditional and streaming platforms? If so, NBC Bay Area wants to hear from you. In this role you will work closely with the executive producer, assignment desk, digital team and reporters to produce dynamic, high-impact content and newscasts. We are looking for a journalist with a multi-platform mindset who has impeccable writing, producing and digital skills with a creative vision to help us Move the Bay Area Forward. Bonus points if you have market knowledge.

Characteristics:

  • Strong news writing skills and the ability to edit, produce and gather content under heavy deadline pressure, without compromising accuracy or credibility
  • Desire to be innovative and produce newscasts/stories in new and different ways and on different platforms
  • Strong understanding of how to effectively utilize social media platforms to enhance storytelling and audience engagement
  • Passion to research and develop stories on tight timelines 
  • Respond to breaking news with accuracy and urgency
  • Invested and engaged in the local community while understanding how to represent the local viewer
  • Collaborate across all levels, highly organized and can work well with digital editors, reporters, assignment editors, writers and other producers

Qualifications



Qualifications

:

  • A degree in Broadcasting, Journalism or related field
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience producing newscasts in a TV newsroom environment
  • Experience writing for and producing a newscast or a news organization in a mid-market is required
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and stories simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

    • Required On-Site : This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

 

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary range: $85,000 - $100,000
