Job Description

System and Network Administrator

Location: Camp Pendleton, CA 92055

We are seeking a System and Network Administrator to support the Information Management Department. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, SharePoint Online, and security compliance. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, scalability, and security of all IT systems, providing continuous operational support to Camp Pendleton.

Key Responsibilities

System Administration

  • Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of physical and virtual servers.
  • Schedule and apply operating system patches, updates, and security configurations.
  • Monitor and maintain server health, performance, and resource utilization.
  • Develop and implement automation tools and scripting for system optimization.
  • Conduct daily system health checks and trend performance metrics.
  • Maintain compliance with DoD and NHCP security standards, including audits and log reviews.
  • Support system backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity.

Network Administration

  • Administer and support network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and security.
  • Monitor network performance and respond to alerts, identifying issues and resolving them efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues, firewall configurations, and security vulnerabilities.
  • Implement network redundancy and disaster recovery protocols.
  • Maintain and document network diagrams, configurations, and access permissions.

SharePoint Online Administration

  • Provide technical and administrative support for SharePoint Online environment.
  • Perform daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring.
  • Manage user permissions, security policies, and compliance configurations.
  • Develop and maintain document libraries, lists, workflows, and site collections.
  • Support Intranet functionality, ensuring high availability and usability.
  • Conduct backup and recovery operations for SharePoint Online data.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Ensure IT systems meet DoD cybersecurity requirements, including IA Technical Level II compliance.
  • Implement security policies, audits, and monitoring for system vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and security patching of IT infrastructure.
  • Enforce role-based access control and compliance with IT security policies.
  • Participate in security incident response and remediation efforts.

User Support & Documentation

  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for IT systems, addressing issues efficiently.
  • Document all technical procedures, configurations, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
  • Develop user guides and provide training sessions for internal staff on system usage and best practices.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in system administration, network management, and cybersecurity in a healthcare or government environment.

Certifications:

  • Required: COMPTIA Security+ (Sec+)
  • Preferred: Server+, MCSA, or equivalent DoD 8570.01-M IA certifications
  • Technical Skills:
  • Microsoft Server (2012/2016/2019) administration
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, and SCCM
  • Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • SQL Server database administration
  • SharePoint Online administration and workflow development
  • PowerShell and other automation scripting languages
  • Networking protocols, firewalls, VPN, and security best practices
  • ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Remedy)
  • Other Requirements:
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Must pass a government background check and obtain required security clearances.

Work Environment

  • Office setting within the Information Management Department.
  • Standard working hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional on-call responsibilities.
