What you will do:

  • Provides oversight, coaching, advice, technical expertise and training on safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, construction and operational work methods.

  • Act as a first responder to safety incidents and gather/evaluate accident data.

  • Conduct root cause analysis of safety incidents and recommend preventative actions.

  • Identify potential safety risks and implement corrective measures.

  • Perform safety inspections and monitor and evaluate work practices to ensure compliance with all OSHA, regulatory and company safety policies and programs.

  • Maintain awareness of governmental regulations and policies that may impact company operations.

  • Test, research and recommend new tools, systems and equipment, and ensures compliance with technical specifications.

  • Develop, implement, and conduct safety, ergonomics and industrial hygiene training and presentations.

  • May administer public safety programs for internal and external partners such as first responders, contractors and schools.

  • Assists in the development of Accident Prevention Manuals, and technical training programs and materials.

  • Provide expert advice and solutions to peers, customers and co-workers.

  • Work closely with managers, supervisors, safety committees and other colleagues to develop risk reduction plans and supports other safety initiatives.

  • Investigate third party safety incidents, often working closely with the claims department and regulators.

  • Identify, evaluate, and control chemical exposures in the workplace, and perform other industrial hygiene related activities such as coordinating hearing conversation, respirator and medical surveillance programs.

Who you are :

You have:

  • The following combination of experience/education:

    • 5+ years of directly related experience with a Bachelors degree

    • 7+ years of directly related experience with an Associates degree

    • 9+ years of directly related experience with a High School diploma/GED

    • Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W-1-W-2, or O1-O3 plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above are encouraged to apply

  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record that will be verified upon hire.

You can:

  • Show a solid understanding of applicable safety and fire protection regulations and requirements along with technical expertise in an applicable job specific area.

  • Offer strong planning, organizational, analytical and computer skills while also demonstrating the ability to perform accident/incident investigations.

You are:

  • An excellent written and verbal communicator with strong public speaking, interpersonal, coaching and presentation skills.

  • Knowledgeable of applicable hazardous material/chemical management and transportation in addition to industrial hygiene sampling and surveying techniques.

The following are considered assets:

  • A bachelors degree in a related field such as: Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Occupational Safety

  • Certification in one or more of the following subject areas: Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, or Professional Engineer

  • Knowledge of hazardous material/chemical management and transportation

Working Conditions:

  • Work performed in office environment 50% of the time with travel to field locations up to 20% of the time.

  • Will be exposed to the elements such as: cold, heat, dust, fumes, loud noises up to 50% of the time.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
