This Registered Nurse position in a Medical Surgical unit of a Level I trauma center and Magnet hospital requires a minimum of two years of experience. The RN will provide skilled nursing care to adult and geriatric patients, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and adherence to isolation precautions. IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration skills are required. The position involves a 3x12 night shift (1845-0715) schedule with every other weekend rotation.

Responsibilities:
- Providing direct patient care, including assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
- Performing IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration.
- Managing peripheral lines and PICC lines.
- Maintaining isolation precautions.
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team (Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Transportation, Unit Secretary).
- Charting in Cerner.
- Floating to other units as needed.
- Managing a patient ratio of up to 1:7.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois (or in application process with ETA to apply).
- Minimum two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting.
- BLS certification.
- IV therapy/Phlebotomy skills.
- Blood Product Administration skills.
- Peripheral Line Care/Management skills.
- PICC line management skills.
- Knowledge of Isolation Precautions.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Previous charge nurse experience.
- Experience in a teaching hospital.
- Starting IVs skills.
- Colostomy care skills.
- Feeding tube care and management skills.
- Heparin administration skills.
- PCA pump management skills.
- Wound Care/Wound Vac skills.
- Experience with Nasal Cannula, Telemetry, and Rapid Response Teams.
Special Considerations:
- Position is in a Level I trauma center and Magnet hospital.
- Requires every other weekend work.
- Will float as needed per department needs.
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only).
- COVID-19 vaccine not required.
- Up to 36 hours of call-offs per 13-week assignment are permitted without pay; additional call-offs will be billed.
- RTO restrictions: ideally no more than 5 days.
