Job Description

Workman Publishing is seeking a dynamic and talented Photo Editor who will primarily be responsible for photo research for our Calendars and general non-fiction for the adult books division. This person will be responsible for overseeing each project through initial photo list, photo review with designers and editors, and licensing approved images.

 

This is a NYC based role. HBG's current hybrid model is 3 days in-office, 2 days working from home.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete commercial photo research for books and calendars – primarily focusing on travel, nature, and historical photography. 
  • License images with stock photo agencies such as Getty Images, Alamy, and AWL, and with independent photographers. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the photo, design, editorial and production departments.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and possess the time management skills to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Photo Editor, or Department Head

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 2 years experiences in photo research required.
  • Work with an array of programs, including Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge; Filemaker Pro; Microsoft Office 
  • Strong time management, communication, and follow-through skills
  • Ability to take direction yet maintain initiative

The compensation for this position is $53,200. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
