About the Role
Nature’s news team seeks an ambitious science reporter for a July-December internship – a paid, full-time writing position based in our Washington DC or New York City offices (on a hybrid model).

Although they primarily cover news, they will have the opportunity to write features or participate in creating multimedia content. Top candidates will have a strong background in both science and journalism, and should be enthusiastic about writing stories for an audience of researchers, administrators and decision makers. Past interns have gone on to staff positions at Carbon Brief , Chemical & Engineering News, The New York Times, and Nature .News interns will receive an hourly wage of $22.00.
Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Has a university degree in a relevant subject.
Background in science preferred, but not required (applicants who have published science journalism articles previously or completed a science writing/journalism programme will be weighted more heavily).

Contributes to an inclusive, collegial work environment.
To Apply:
Please submit a cover letter telling us what you’ll bring to the Nature newsroom and what topics you would want to cover, a resume , and 3-5 samples of published journalism that you have written (please submit your clips along with your resume as a single PDF – please do not only submit links to the clips). Samples should include journalism clips or other reported pieces – please do not send scientific papers or other technical writing. Applications are due by February 26th. Early applications are encouraged.
US Hourly Pay is $22.00 per hour.
