Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled JavaScript Developer to contribute to the modernization of our internal scheduling and productivity applications. This contract position involves helping transition existing legacy ColdFusion applications to modern, user-friendly web applications using JavaScript and relevant front-end technologies. This is a unique opportunity to have a direct impact on improving operational efficiency and workflows.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to assess the functionality of current applications and gather requirements for the development of new solutions.
  • Design, develop, and deploy modern web-based applications using JavaScript and frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js .
  • Integrate with back-end services, APIs, and databases to ensure seamless operation.
  • Prioritize performance, security, and scalability in the applications developed.
  • Produce clean, well-documented, and maintainable code.
  • Participate in code reviews to uphold coding standards and ensure best practices.
  • Identify and resolve software defects, optimizing performance as needed.
  • Aid in migrating data and functionalities from the legacy ColdFusion systems to modern JavaScript-based solutions.
  • Stay updated with the latest JavaScript tools, technologies, and trends.
  • Help create and maintain technical documentation for the developed solutions.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for applications throughout the contract.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a JavaScript Developer.
  • Strong knowledge of core JavaScript concepts and the latest ECMAScript standards.
  • Experience with one or more modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js .
  • Proficiency in HTML5 and CSS3 .
  • Experience in asynchronous programming and API integrations, particularly with RESTful APIs .
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git .
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical abilities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently in a remote, contract-based role.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented work ethic.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with server-side JavaScript technologies such as Node.js and Express .
  • Familiarity with relational database technologies, such as MySQL .
  • Experience with testing frameworks like Jest , Mocha , or Cypress .
  • Strong understanding of web security best practices.
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies .
  • Experience in migrating legacy applications to modern technologies.
  • Exposure to cloud services, such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) .
  • A willingness to learn or prior experience with ColdFusion .
