PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Under the general direction and supervision of the Superintendent the Information Technology Manager is responsible for planning, organization, integration, implementation, and maintenance in matters related to district information and networking services. The Information Technology Manager will participate in long-range planning and development within a multi-site network environment, and acts with a high degree of independence of action in the assigned areas of responsibility. An essential function of this position is to oversee all aspects of network security and platform integration, and to ensure the protection of critical student and employee data. This position is responsible for staying current on the latest security strategies and requirements specific to education by attending professional meetings and conferences, participating in professional learning communities, and monitoring relevant discussion forums and information-sharing networks.

It is expected that the IT Manager be proactive in seeking out best practices and emerging trends rather than simply maintaining the status quo. It is required that the Information Technology Manager has specialized professional knowledge of local and wide area networks and networking/routing protocols; VMware/HyperV/Azure VM administration and troubleshooting, Microsoft Windows Domain administration including DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, terminal services, IIS, Group Policy, and Printing technologies. The Information Technology Manager must have strong knowledge of cloud-bgased platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure, including Azure Active Directory, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, and Azure Security Center.
Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, network security protocols, and data protection best practices is essential. Strong knowledge of SQL database administration and security management is required. Extensive knowledge on multiple operating systems is required, including Windows, Mac, and iOS. Strong knowledge of cloud services, including the Google Admin Console and Google Apps for Education is required.
The Information Technology Manager must have well-developed communication skills to convey highly technical concepts with a wide range of internal contacts, administrators, and School Board members, as well as to deal effectively with external vendors and contractors. The successful candidate must have excellent personnel management, written and oral communication, and consensus building skills. They must be able to conduct training, facilitate small group processes, and coordinate and communicate with other departments in the districts to achieve common goals.
ABILITIES:
The Information Technology Manager must be able to plan, design, organize, and implement a network with multiple servers and perform the full range of complex and technical duties described above. Must be able to analyze and evaluate the needs to users and develop the most effective program or solution to meet those needs. Must know how to install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot equipment, systems and programs used by district offices and sites. Must be able to design and implement system interoperability solutions that enable seamless data flow between multiple platforms. Must be able to prioritize and delegate work. Must be able to read, interpret and apply complex technical information, and relay that information to district stakeholders. Must be able to train, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components as needed. The ability to perform all other aspects of the job, as well as the ability to lift objects to light to medium weight (less than 50 lbs.), and to bend or stoop into small areas to occasionally inspect cables or equipment in cabinets, floors, and ceilings.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
This area has temperate climate conditions. Most essential functions are performed indoors, though some outdoor work is required. No vibrations, hazards, or pollutant atmospheric conditions are evident. Noise level is moderate.
