We are currently looking for an experienced  Heavy Equipment & Diesel Mechanic  to join our team in  Knoxville, TN . Our Heavy Equipment & Diesel Mechanics are responsible for the maintenance and repair of our PUCC trucks, trailers, and heavy construction equipment. Candidates with working knowledge of diesel and gas engines are encouraged to apply. 

We are currently offering a  limited-time sign-on bonus of $4,000 for new hires with a valid CDL license , and sign-on bonuses for new hires without a current CDL license are also available at a reduced amount. New employees who meet the criteria outlined in our sign-on bonus program will be eligible for the full payout.

Starting pay is $23.00-$27.00 per hour dependent upon experience. We offer 100% paid on-the-job training!

What You'll Do:

  • Perform preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and hydraulic systems
  • Perform and analyze diagnostic tests to find faults
  • Schedule and repair or replace engine, steering, transmission, braking, or lighting system components
  • Maintain parts inventory and ensure the cleaniness of the shop
  • Test drive vehicles to gauge performance
  • Move machines, off-load equipment, run daily tasks, and close up shop / yard on occasion 

What We Need from You:

  • Valid driver's license required
  • Minimum of one year of experience performing preventative maintenance on trucks, heavy equipment, and / or hydraulic systems required
  • Knowledge and understanding of diesel and gas engines, and hydraulic systems
  • Possess a valid Class A or B CDL license is a plus
  • Degree or diploma in mechanical or automotive engineering, ASE Diesel Certification is a plus
  • Possess own hand tools and proficient with maintenance and repair tools
  • Knowledgeable with reading diagnostic codes and able to diagnose complex issues
  • Able and willing to travel if needed
