GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Central City Health is committed to enabling every patient in our community to thrive by building a collaborative multidisciplinary healthcare team. Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director/Senior Leadership provides oversight and direction to the management teams responsible for daily operations. The Director of Behavioral Health Services works collaboratively with the staff of the clinical programs to ensure compliance with agency and clinical standards, as well as federal, state, local and third-party payer expectations. The Director will develop and maintain operations to maximize clinical efficiencies and quality objectives while achieving productivity requirements. The Director of Behavioral Health Services will work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordination of clinical and operational practices within the agency.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the operations of the Behavioral Health department.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Leadership team, identifies and assesses new or changing practice (including staff, facility, equipment, operating costs, etc.) needs; analyzes and initiates actions necessary to accomplish proposed goals.
  • Develops and implements policies and plans for clinical functions and/or programs so that services meet the guidelines set forth by accrediting, licensing, regulatory agencies, and funding source.
  • Maintains current knowledge of tends and best practices and standards in community health centers utilizing an integrated health model, using internal and external resources in coordination with management team. 
  • Monitors and evaluates program(s) performances to ensure consistency and compliance with the requirements of the funder and fidelity expectations. 
  • Ensures the integration of services inclusive of primary care, behavioral health, dental services, and supportive housing, promotes a team-based approach to patient care delivery.
  • Establishes goals, oversees productivity and partners with Senior Leadership to identify trends and addresses opportunities for improvement.
  • Facilitates necessary in-service training programs, associated with new or updated practice needs/goals and budgets.
  • Participates in the development of agency workflows to ensure compliance with FQHC, NCQA, CMH, DWIHN, other regulatory agencies and Medicaid/Medicare regulatory standards.
  • Monitors evidence-based clinical practice workflow; provides oversight and ensures compliance with standards for clinical documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Reviews performance improvement activities such as, quality assurance audits, continuing education, Patient Centered Medical Home processes, and peer reviews; develops and implements training modules as needs are identified through chart reviews, best practices, and audit findings.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring and supervision of staff; ensures high standards of performance by proactively addressing issues through coaching and disciplinary action.
  • Ensures timely completion of required reports and clinical reviews as required by all stakeholders.
  • Participates in meetings/conferences and continuing education and demonstrates a genuine desire to develop strategies for improved operations and high-level patient care.
  • Keeps abreast of current trends regarding best practices and evidenced based treatment, wellness, and recovery management.
  • Ensures all actions, job performance, personal conduct and communications represent the organization in a highly professional manner.
  • Provides individual/group therapy and other clinical services.
  • Manages issues occurring during and outside of regular business hours.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology required
  • Current State of Michigan licensure in one of the following: LMSW, LLP or LP required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent leadership experience required
  • Must meet all Continuing Education requirements. 
  • Knowledge of PCMH
  • Expert knowledge of community mental health policies, procedures, supervision strategies and current evidence based clinical practice.
