Job Description

As a Control Room Operator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the plant. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced technology in a dynamic environment, supporting the facility’s mission to convert waste into renewable energy while upholding the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor boiler, turbine, and auxiliary equipment from the control room to ensure optimal plant performance.
  • Adjust controls and monitor system parameters to maintain efficient combustion and energy generation.
  • Conduct routine equipment checks, identify operational issues, and escalate or resolve them according to established procedures.
  • Accurately log operational data and maintain records in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams for equipment startup, shutdown, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Follow all safety protocols and promptly report hazards, near misses, or environmental incidents.
  • Support outage activities and participate in emergency response procedures as required.
  • Foster a positive work environment through effective communication and collaboration with colleagues, clients, vendors, and management.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in using SCADA and DCS systems for plant monitoring and control.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, especially under pressure.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
  • Ability to attain the ASME QRO Provisional Certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Willingness and ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Capable of performing physical tasks such as climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, operating fire extinguishing equipment, and accessing confined spaces as required.
